The Aukey Omnia 100W is the budget GaN laptop charger we’d recommend to a friend on a tight budget. $39 street price delivers 100W USB-PD into a MacBook Air exactly as well as a $79 Anker — just without the polish.
What the price cut costs
No OLED display. No dynamic multi-port allocation (it has a single USB-C port only). Plastic prongs that don’t fold. Weight is closer to Apple’s silicon 100W brick than an Anker 100W GaN. None of these affect performance — they affect convenience.
Thermal behavior is the weakness
At sustained 100W our Omnia measured 68°C case temp at 30 minutes — higher than Anker’s 57°C or UGREEN’s 62°C. Not dangerous, but we’d avoid closed-laptop-bag use at full load. For desktop or plugged-in use it’s fine.
Warranty is category-typical
2-year warranty vs Anker’s 5. Aukey’s customer service responded to our test RMA request within 36 hours and replaced the unit — not industry-leading but respectable.
Bottom line: If $40 is the budget ceiling for a 100W GaN, this is the unit. Spend $30 more for Anker’s polish if budget allows.
